Drop-In Meditation Classes

 Regular classes are held at Tilopa Kadampa Buddhist Centre and at various venues around Vancouver and the surrounding areas.  For further details about individual classes follow the links at the side.  

There is also a regular schedule of chanted prayers with meditations which are held at Tilopa Buddhist Centre. You can see the calendar for our full monthly schedule. 

About the Classes

Classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.  Everyone is welcome.  During the classes the teacher will explain how to meditate and will give practical instructions on how to use meditation to reduce stress and other problems encountered in daily life.  Most drop-in classes run for an hour and a half.  We meditate sitting on chairs to ensure that everyone is comfortable.  There is no physical exercise involved.  

The general structure of the class:

  • Simple guided meditation
  • Teaching on how to solve problems in daily life
  • Another meditation and questions and answers

After the class everyone is welcome to stay for light refreshments.  

Attending the class

The classes are organized as short courses, usually 3, 4 or 5 weeks long.  You can attend the whole course, or simply drop in whenever you can as each class is self-contained, or you can just come along to try a session.
