Chanted Prayers
Meet the Buddhas
When: Wednesdays, 7 pm Where: Tilopa Buddhist Centre, Free
These prayers are accessible to anyone, and a great opprotunity to introduce yourself to Buddhist Practice. Each Wednesday, we rotate prayers to different Buddhas with a brief explanation of the practice at the beginning. The prayers include time for meditation and mantra recitation. The different practices include:
- Medicine Buddha (Healing Ourself and Others)
- Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion)
- Vajrasattva (Purification Practice)
- Powa Ceremony (Prayers for the deceased)
- The Great Mother (Dispelling Obstacles)
A Daily Practice
We hold regular sessions of chanted prayers, or pujas, which are often combined with meditation, visualization, and mantra recitation.
Usual weekly practices offered include:
- Heart Jewel
- Wishfulfilling Jewel
- Liberation from Sorrow (Tara Prayers)
- Quick Path to Great Bliss (this requires Highest Yoga Tantra Empowerments)
Other very special monthly practices include:
- Offering to the Spiritual Guide (10th & 25th each month)
- Melodious Drum (29th of each month)
